Te lo spiego in linea molto generale, poichè non ho ben capito se intendi una icona in particolare.

Devi possedere un programma di grafica, crei un nuovo documento con le dimensioni che preferisci, e lì inizi a lavorare magari inserendoci uno sfondo, l'immagine che hai scelto di usare, etc.
Ci sono tantissimi tipi di icone diverse, caratterizzate da altrettanti stili grafici, per questo può sembrare banale il procedimento che ti ho dato; tutto dipende da quello che hai in mente tu.

Mi sa che per conciliare le due cose ti conviene disabilitare la firma in tutte le sezioni da Amministrazione >> Utenti >> Firma.

Prima di modificare chiedi sempre il permesso all'autore, ma non penso ci siano eccessivi problemi per una cosa del genere.

Allora fai così, vai in Gestione HTML e modifica questa scritta:

Fatto questo spostati su Colori e Stili e inserisci questo codice:

Se la skin che stai modificando la Digital Eagle allora sostituisci a questo:

Per la barra prova sostituendo questa parte qua (il background-position è meglio se viene specificato come bottom right per il .mleft_top e invece bottom left per il .mright_top, giusto per essere sicuri che si visualizzi al meglio.

Guarda, riguardo il bottone sembra che se chiami l'immagine come il comando del bottone (per esempio in questo caso hai chiamato il file A_POST-3.png per il bottone A_POST) non funzia niente... Misteri di FF =D

Riguardo il bottone non so se può risolvere, ma prova a chiamarlo invece di A_POST-3.png tipo topic.png (una volta mi era capitata una situazione simile che mettendo lo stesso nome del bottone non mi funzionava). Però non sono sicuro.
